Australia response

Response from Chris Creswell, Copyright law consultant, Copyright Law Branch, Attorney-General's Department, May 11th:

The Government is still in the process of consulting stakeholders in the
proposed treaty before determining what position it will take at this stage of the negotiations. You might be interested to read the attached paper that I presented at a workshop on copyright and broadcasting in Sydney last month and which includes reference to the role played so far by Australia in the negotiations.

Thanks to Peter Eckersley for administering this survey.

Denmark response

Recently the Danish minister of culture has published a document about the status and plans for copyright law the next 4-5 years.

On page 56 it says (translated):

13.3 Protection of radio- and television

The ministry of culture supports the WIPO-project of a treaty for the protection of radio- and television broadcast, in order to make the protection equal to the WPPT-rules for artists and record-producers. A diplomatic conference about such a treaty is expected to be held in 2005 or 2006. With regard to ensuring the passing of such a treaty soon the question about the protection of producers of webcast (certain forms of streaming on the internet) should be postponed for later or parallel discussions."

Thank you to Peter Mogensen of Digital for Bruger for the text and the translation.

Finland response

As of May 24, the government does not yet have a position.

Thanks to Ville Oksanen at EFFI for administering this survey.
